L'Indovino
Exhibition Design
Villa Gulia, Rome
September - November 2026
The exhibition design for L’Indovino transforms an installation conceived by the artist Mouna Rebeiz for the 2022 Venice Biennale, placing it in dialogue with the Etruscan history and archaeology contained within the monumental interiors of Villa Giulia.
Within the hemicycle, visitors discover divination as an open dialogue between the Aruspicina, an ancient Etruscan practice that involved inspecting the entrails of sacrificed animals to predict the future, and the esoteric significance of the Tarot.
The intervals between the existing archaeological display cases serve as bays for the 22 major arcana cards. Their reflective surfaces, handpainted by the artist with symbols and motifs, become the recurring material for various display elements designed specifically for the exhibition. Through the multiplication of reflections, the installation enhances the introspective quality of tarot reading, which plays a key role in the practice of divination.
